A Lament for Robb Elementary School

God who created, loves and comforts us we lament the loss of 21 lives at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. God of healing we ask for you to spare the lives that are currently in critical condition.

The collective loss of these 21 lives is unfathomable and has left a huge hole in the heart of Texas, our nation, and especially the families of the victims.

Lord comfort Dads, Moms, siblings, and their loved ones in the difficult time. God, you are close to the brokenhearted. All present God be with the families, Texas, and our nation as we mourn these beautiful people whose lives were taken too early.

Our nation's brokenness and gun violence killed these beautiful people and their blood cries out from the ground for Justice. Too many children and school workers have suffered the same fate and for this, I grieve.

All knowing God, I ask for peace for Texas and our nation and for unity in this trying time. Lord, would you help us end violence and broken families in our nation and individual cities? Lord, would you show us our part in taking action?

Lord, we can’t take any more of this!! Lord have mercy on us. God, please intervene on behalf of the families who have been especially ripped apart. “Relent, LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants. Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days” (Psalms 90:13–14).”

In our darkest time, we put our trust back in the God who loves us and made us all in his loving image. God, you are just, merciful, and good. Despite the circumstances, we worship you in our pain. “Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises (Psalms 22:3).” Through this pain, we know that you are working and that you are able to save us.

In this time, I find strength in what Job 1:21 said, "The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised." God, we praise you because you are with us and you love us.

Lord bring comfort and peace beyond all understanding. God have mercy on the victims families and on our nation. We need you more than ever before.
